Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. This West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. But this is not true. Brugel grew in Courtice close to Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become an actress, however, after a rapid increase in size, her friends were no longer able to dance with her. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. After I surpassed my male counterparts and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. For Brugel, it was the encouragement by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her to the path she wanted. Her teacher suggested she audition to play the character of Anne for their school's annual production. She auditioned and was cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on both small and large screens. She attracted the most media attention after she was offered the character of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale the series filmed over ten years ago.
